Vandals smash trains in Acton

Vandals smashed train windows and damaged carriages in Acton last night.

The central line trains had to be taken out of service following the incident and London Underground engineers worked throughout the night to repair the damage.

AN orbital rail route linking Acton with the rest of the capital is a step closer after funding was agreed by central Government and Transport for London.

A planned £75 million extension to the East London Line will complete the suburban London Overground circuit, which runs through South Acton and Acton Central stations.

More cops for Acton Mainline

A team of eight extra police officers will be drafted in to patrol Acton Mainline train station over the next two years.

The transport police unit will be paid for by the Mayor of London as part of a crackdown on low level crime and disorder at outer London stations.


Passengers on a train service which runs through Acton are more satisfied
one year after it was relaunched, according to Transport for London.

More than half of passengers questioned said staff visibility and
cleanliness have improved since TfL took over the London Overground network
from previous operators Silverlink last November.

A new pedestrian crossing could be in the pipeline for a busy junction in Acton town centre.

Ealing Council officers are looking into options for the junction of Uxbridge Road and Gunnersbury Lane, next to the Red Lion and Pineapple pub.

A coach service has started up which provides a direct link from Acton to Stansted airport.

The Orbis Air Link runs 24 hours a day and leaves every two hours from Hammersmith, calling at Acton Town and Ealing Broadway Tube stations.
