A former athlete, who has become a personal trainer for the elderly, is now creating a board game to help them develop co-ordination and stability.


Martin Hunt, from Ealing,who used to run for Ealing Southall & Middlesex Athletics club, decided to target his personal training towards the elderly as he has a disabled father and two disabled nephews. He was nominated for a Pride in our People awards for helping the elderly.

The Deputy Mayor of London has leant his support to an on-going campaign to create a green space along a polluted stretch of road in Acton.

Richard Barnes, who is also the London Assembly Member for Ealing and Hillingdon, joined members of West Acton Residents' Association on Saturday where he received a petition with nearly 700 signatures calling for a 25metre corridor from the A40 between Savoy Circus and Kathleen Avenue.

People are invited to an evening of Caribbean entertainment in Acton to raise money for Haiti.

Haitian artist, Joe Di Marco will be entertaining the crowds and there will be an auction, raffle, music and story-telling.

Guests are invited to attend a youth concert on Mothering Sunday to raise money for the Haiti Hospital appeal.

St Mary's Church in Market Place, will be hosting the special event fundraising for the charity which existed before the recent earthquake.

A 70-year-old man, who has strived to help his community for 14 years, has been nominated for a community champion award.


Livingston St Louis a father of three children and three grandchildren, has been vice chairman of the Acton Vale Tenants and Residents'Association for nine years and chairman for about five.

An estate agent, with branches across West London, has been nominated for its support of local organisations, schools and voluntary groups.


Robertson Smith and Kempson (RSK) based in The Broadway, Ealing, with branches in Ealing, Shepherds Bush, Northfields, Acton and Hanwell runs a Community Matters Programme which backs a range of events and projects, from fooball kit to fetes.

A cancer care nurse, who helps terminally ill patients in the final days of their lives, is the first person to be nominated for our Pride in our People Awards 2010.


Olive Hoare, from Northolt, is one of nine Ealing Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses, who is also fronting the Gazette-backed campaign to raise £170,000 to improve services in the borough.A Marie Curie nurse for 13 years, Olive, 62, also worked at Meadow House Hospice. Fundraiser for Acton

The Sunshine Foundation is holding its third annual fundraising event to support Springhallow Special Needs School in West Ealing next Saturday.

On Saturday February 27, members of the community are invited to Priory Centre, Acton Lane, Acton for an evening of entertainment from 7pm to 10pm.

A girl's school helped raise more than £3,000 in the run up to Valentine's Day for a charity which mends real broken hearts.

Pupils from The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls in Queens Drive, Acton, took part in a Valentine's Day raffle to raise money for the medical charity, Chain of Hope, which provides corrective surgery for children and young people in war-torn and developing countries.

Guests are invited to attend an evening of music to raise money for a charity which sends teenager on a life-changing trip to Africa.

John Dalby, John Evans, Alistair Bown, the Twyford School gospel choir as well as an array of musicians and composers will be performing at St Mary's Church, The Mount, on Friday March 5 from 7:30-9:30pm.
