Acton Newsagent Loses Licence

A newsagent who continued to sell alcohol and was found to have cannabis on site, has lost his licence.

Amit Patel's licence for James Newsagent at 326 Uxbridge Road was revoked last week following a temporary suspension last month.

Alcohol was left on display on 18 and 24 June and on June 25, a test purchase operation was successful.

The Licensing Sub-Committee thought Patel had shown total disregard for its earlier decision and was satisfied that police were right to have concerns about his suitability to hold a licence.

Patel has 21 days to lodge an appeal with the magistrates' court if he disagrees with the decision.
