Vandals smash trains in Acton
Vandals smashed train windows and damaged carriages in Acton last night.
The central line trains had to be taken out of service following the incident and London Underground engineers worked throughout the night to repair the damage.
British Transport Police officers searched the area and will continue their inquiries today.
Inspector Michael McGinty, of British Transport Police, said: "This was a reckless act of vandalism and I cannot emphasise strongly enough the dangers associated with this type of crime.
"Those who gain access to prohibited parts of the railway are putting their lives at risk.
"Fortunately no-one was injured, but the vandalism damaged a number of trains, taking them out of service."
The police are urging any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.
Anyone with information should contact police on 0800 40 50 40 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A TfL Spokesperson said: "The safety of our passengers and staff is our top priority and we condemn this senseless vandalism."
Central line trains are operating well this morning.
