Acton served by London orbital train

Posted by Dan Hodges on Feb 13, 09 05:26 PM in Useful Info

AN orbital rail route linking Acton with the rest of the capital is a step closer after funding was agreed by central Government and Transport for London.

A planned £75 million extension to the East London Line will complete the suburban London Overground circuit, which runs through South Acton and Acton Central stations.

The extension will link Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction and is due to be completed before the 2012 Olympic Games.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said: "This is tremendous news. We can finally get cracking on a vital section of track that will orbitise our Overground rail services."

We'd like to hear from you.
