Acton museum's box of tricks

Posted by Dan Hodges on Feb 12, 09 04:45 PM in Clubs/societies

A museum in an Acton park is creating a box of archaeological treasures to inspire school children to explore local history.

Gunnersbury Park Museum was given £1,850 for the project from residents John and Ruth Howard, who set up a charitable trust to support public education in the field of archaeology.

The box will make its way around schools in Acton and Ealing and will contain a mix of objects, maps and tools, along with a teacher's guidebook with suggestions for classroom activities, quizzes and games.

The museum has already created two popular boxes about the Victorians and the Second World War.

For more information email gp-museum@laing.com or call the museum's information officers, Lisa D'Agostino or Clare Oliphant, on 0208 992 2247.
