PEOPLE with old mobile phones are encouraged to donate them to an Acton charity which fights for the rights of disabled people.

Scope in Acton High Street is raising cash by collecting unwanted phones in a project run with recycling group Redeem. The charity is given £3 for every phone handed in.

A team of eight extra police officers will be drafted in to patrol Acton Mainline train station over the next two years.

The transport police unit will be paid for by the Mayor of London as part of a crackdown on low level crime and disorder at outer London stations.
